Finance Business Analyst

8 Month Contract based in JHB 

 Proficiency in the following

  • Highly skilled in requirements gathering and specification, process analysis and related documentation such as business requirements documentation, process flow diagrams, test cases. Experience working in MS Visio and MS Excel is a must.
  • Project delivery in complex and pressured environments with successful delivery of project deliverables to business operations.
  • Financial services and banking. Ideally, proficient in financial reporting processes and controls.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the current financial reporting standards for banks, e.g. IFRS, BA
  • Working effectively within different project delivery methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall
  • Working with and managing work tickets using JIRA is advantageous
    Duties include
        • Requirements gathering and formalization in business requirements documents and test cases
        • Detailed process analysis and documentation for in-scope processes, typically level 3 & 4
        • Data analysis and requirements specifications
        • Business and data glossaries / dictionaries
        • Controls: analysis and alignment to agreed control frameworks
        • Quality management and testing definition, planning and execution, as required
        • Contribute directly to the identification of opportunities for improvement as a result of the analysis work
        • Workload and project planning as per the project delivery methodology
        • Partake in project delivery events as required – such as planning sessions, analysis workshops, team meetings, etc.
        • Meetings – the business analyst may be required to set-up, run and document meetings (meeting minutes)
        • Raise issues and risks with the project team and management in a timely manner
        • Provide status updates and maintain task / activity content on an ongoing basis

 

Deliverable

Description

Close out / hand-over activities

Assist the project team and bank personnel with respect to the project close out activities.

Plan for and manage hand-over(s) between teams and within the team to ensure managed transition of deliverables from project to business operations

Contribute toward solution designs and delivery

Participate in workshops, design sessions, impact assessment, testing, deep-dives and other such activities to achieve project delivery.

Participate in the project solution design and planning activities.

Controls-related documentation

Ensure process and data controls are assessed and complied with, for example, EUDAs, mitigating controls, reconciliations.

Detailed data analysis

Perform the data analysis and document the relevant artefacts (such as data flow diagrams; data dictionary entries; data models; etc).

Perform validity and control assessments to complement the analysis.

Produce analysis outcomes and recommendations. Identify, document and escalate issues, data anomalies and other analysis output concerns.

Process and data flow documentation

Produce process and data flow documentation to a granular activity level, expressing the activities (including affected reporting processes, business units, responsible roles, financial models, etc.), inputs, outputs, roles, responsibilities, etc. Ensure roles and responsibilities, work day timelines and other operating model considerations are clearly articulated.

Project Delivery

Ensure that the project deliverables are delivered according to the agreed time and minimum acceptance / success criteria. Where delivery is put at risk, the risks and issues are raised with management in a timeous manner and delivery schedules and priorities adjusted accordingly.

Ensure all project artefacts are completed and stored within the project artefact library

Ensure that project changes (scope, schedule, cost) via formal change controls

RAIDs logs

Manage and maintain the project logs – risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and decisions

Manage and communicate all delivery risks and issues in an orderly and timeous manner

Running of meeting / events

The preparation, logistics, identification of required participants, holding the meeting, documenting the meeting and all other aspects related to effective use of meetings to generate desired results.

Consolidation and communication of the minutes and actions from each meeting.

Logging issues, risks, dependencies, actions and assumptions on the project logs.

Specifications documentation

Business requirements, functional and project specific specifications documentation

Work Plans

Actively partake in the construction and maintenance of detailed work plans that underpin the project delivery plan and commitments
